Head of Web Engineering (.NET/C#)

Location: Dublin, Ireland

Type: Full-time | Permanent | Hybrid
Salary:
€95,000 – 105,000

About the Role

We are partnering with a well-established international brand to hire a Head of Web Engineering. This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role owning the entire web engineering function—from architecture and development to delivery and performance.

You will oversee the full .NET/C# web stack (frontend and backend), lead distributed teams, and work closely with Product and UX to deliver high-performing ecommerce platforms used by thousands of customers daily.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Ownership: Lead the technical vision and architecture of customer-facing web platforms, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor internal and outsourced engineering teams (frontend, backend, and QA).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product and Design to deliver new features while maintaining technical integrity and reducing debt.
  • Platform Oversight: Ensure smooth operation of core systems including CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, caching/CDN, and third-party integrations.

Core Tech Stack

  • Languages/Frameworks: C#, .NET Core, ReactJS
  • Infrastructure: Azure (Functions, App Services, SQL, CosmosDB), Cloudflare
  • Tools/Integrations: REST APIs, Microservices, CMS platforms (Umbraco preferred), Payment gateways (e.g. Stripe), Messaging tools (e.g. Twilio)

Key Requirements

  • Experience: 7+ years in web/software engineering, with at least 2 years in a senior or leadership role. Strong background delivering scalable B2C ecommerce solutions.
  • Tech Skills: Deep experience with the Microsoft tech stack (C#, .NET Core, Azure). Strong knowledge of modern frontend frameworks (preferably ReactJS).
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and deliver results in fast-paced, product-driven environments.
  • Preferred: Experience with multilingual, multi-currency ecommerce platforms and third-party system integrations.
